A Brief Glance at 2026

Since the establishment of the Battersea Foundation in 2010, we have completed countless projects, raised more than $2.5 million dollars, and added more than 1,000 objects to our growing collection. As we look ahead, the Foundation is committed to advancing a series of essential projects that will enhance both the structural integrity of the villa and grounds and deepen our educational mission. Sharing the magic of Battersea remains at the heart of our work, and the success of these initiatives will allow us to continue doing just that.

While tremendous progress has been made in recent years, important work still lies ahead. In 2026, we aim to fund and complete the following initiatives:

  • Copper gutters installed on the North side of the villa.

  • Engraved tree and plant labels and grounds panels for botanical interpretation of the path to the river and the formal gardens.

  • Offer new programs during the VA250 celebrations (January thru June, 2026)

  • Completion of masonry repairs and stucco, and installation of handicap access, on the North side of the villa.

  • Installation of new greenhouse doors, hardware, and windows.

  • Pursue an understanding of the archaeological anomalies through further excavation and research in front of the villa.

  • Offer Battersea as a wedding venue for both formal and informal celebrations.

  • Planning and design of new entrance gates, fencing, and security features.

  • Completion of the engineering, design, and stabilization of the kitchen building to be re-purposed as the center for interpretation of African-American life at Battersea.

  • Commission a survey of the health of the ancient trees at Battersea.
