The Battersea Foundation will partner with you to help plan your special day
down to the very last detail.
Whether you’re planning a summer, spring, fall, or winter wedding, you will experience a unique and unforgettable setting when you choose the Battersea estate for your event. Located in historic Petersburg, Battersea offers 37 acres of rolling lawns and forests, creating the perfect setting for your wedding. The property is framed by beautiful vistas that can accommodate any event, from getting ready to the ceremony to the reception.
We want to provide our brides a wide range of options and flexibility and are happy to share our list of local vendors and services that can assist you in creating the ceremony of your dreams.
What Your Wedding at Battersea Includes:
Exclusive use of the villa and grounds for the selected rental period for preparation, ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception
Private getting ready rooms in the villa
Chairs and tables (20 x 6’ round, 8 x 8’ banquet, 10 x 6’ folding banquet) for up to 150 guests (additional rental fee)
Guidance and expertise of our planning team, as well as rehearsal and day-of coordination
Parking and grounds attendants to assist guests
Parking for up to 150 vehicles
A 1 hour rehearsal prior to wedding day
Use of the villa and grounds for portraits prior to the wedding day
Capacity & Pricing:
Battersea is a unique historical setting designated as a Virginia Historic Landmark and in the National Register of Historic Places. The villa, constructed in 1768, provides the capacity to hold an intimate affair of up to 50 guests while the front lawn can accommodate up to 500 guests. Rental fees for the Battersea villa and/or estate grounds are to be determined upon the number of guests in attendance and which spaces of the property will be used. Rental fees will start at $3,000.
We recommend that any bride or bridal party come visit us and tour Battersea to get a more detailed pricing and customization of their wedding. We hope you leave Battersea inspired and excited to share a lifetime of memories with your guests at our historic estate.

We will secure your date upon a signed agreement and 25% payment of the location cost selected. The Battersea Foundation accepts personal checks, cashier’s checks, cash, Venmo transactions, and debit cards and credit cards (with 3.5% fee). The Foundation will invoice you for the remaining amounts outlined in a payment schedule providing you time to cover the rental fee.

We are able to accomodate your wedding any day of the week. However, because Saturdays and Sundays are the most popular days, we strongly suggest reserving your date promptly. Only one wedding or event will be scheduled per day.

We will set up tables and chairs if rented in coordination with Battersea’s provided caterer and wedding planner. Should you decide to rent from another provider, the set up and break down will be arranged by them. Please note: Battersea Foundation does not provide ice, dance flooring, or tents.

We will make every effort to host your ceremony outdoors, if desired. However, we cannot control the weather and will work with you to make rescheduling plans within certain limitations. Any change in plans due to forecasted inclement weather will go into effect three hours prior to the ceremony.
