The Articles of Conversation: John Banister’s Correspondence with the Founding Fathers (1/4)

Join us for the first installment of Battersea’s Winter Lecture Series, The Articles of Conversation, on Sunday, January 11, from 2:00–4:00 PM.

This lecture will be presented by our very own Historical Researcher Mr. Davis Simmons and Battersea President Mr. Sandy Graham, who will examine the personal and political relationships between Colonel John Banister, Battersea’s first owner, and prominent Founding Fathers including George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and Patrick Henry.

Drawing from primary source research and original correspondence, the lecture will explore Banister’s role in the mid-to-late 18th century and the broader historical context in which he operated, highlighting his connections to key figures in early American history.

The lecture will last approximately one hour, followed by a Q&A and conversation.

Admission is free, but advance RSVP is required due to limited seating. Please reserve your spot below.

This program marks the first of four lectures hosted at Battersea as we begin commemorating America’s 250th anniversary. If you are unable to attend this lecture, we invite you to join us for one of the upcoming programs in the series.

This lecture is now SOLD OUT!

We encourage you attend one of the three upcoming lectures in the series, or you can join the waitlist below. If a spot opens up, we will contact you as soon as possible.
