Visit Battersea

During the on-going restoration of Battersea, tours for individuals or groups may be scheduled by appointment. Please contact our offices and we will be glad to arrange a personal tour of this beautiful and historic property along the Appomattox. Please notify us of any special needs so we can arrange access to enable our handicapped visitors an opportunity to see the home during restoration.

Although located in the center of a bustling historic town, Battersea's 30+ acres are surrounded by forest creating the most peaceful of surroundings. Its rolling lawns offer beautiful vistas of a natural and unchanged colonial estate. Directions & Map

From I-95 South: Take Exit-52 for Historic Old Towne Petersburg & Washington St. Keep to the right and continue West bound on Washington St. crossing Sycamore, Market, South, and West Streets. (This is the most direct route and bypasses the Historic Downtown and neighborhoods.) Turn right onto Battersea Lane, immediately in front of the Pepsi Cola plant. After crossing an old rail line, you will be facing the entrance of Battersea.

From I-95 North: Take exit 50A,B,C,D for Crater Rd/Wythe St/Washington St. Keep left to continue on Washington St. Take exit 50D for Wythe St/Washington St. Keep left and continue West bound on Washington St. Turn right onto Battersea Lane, immediately in front of the Pepsi Cola plant. After crossing an old rail line, you will be facing the entrance of Battersea.

From US-460 West Turn left on Rives Road toward I-95 North. From I-95 North follow above directions.

From US-460 East/ I-85 North Take Exit 69 for Wythe St./Washington St. towards Downtown. Keep left at the fork and follow signs for Washington St. From Washington St. follow directions above.
