Program Support

Through our Leisure and Learning Series - Life on the Lawn, everyone can take advantage of the variety of presentations and events that will be offered throughout the year. Some upcoming attractions include wine tastings, holiday tours, our annual Antiques Jamboree and Appraisal Fair, celebrations of Archaeology Month (October), workshops on restoration techniques, paper analysis, limewash treatments, and more. Your contribution helps support programs created for the community's education and enrichment.

Doing Good is Good for Business

Battersea welcomes business participation. Opportunities are available for sponsorship of special events, private functions on site, personal tours and offerings to showcase you and your clients. If you and your firm are interested in partnering with Battersea or you know of a business that might be, contact Tempy Barbru at 804.732.9882 or 757.207.3774 (mobile), or by email at tempy@batterseafound.org.

Host Your Event at Battersea

We would love to talk to you about hosting your next event on our beautiful historic site! Although located in the center of a bustling historic town, Battersea's 30+ acres are surrounded by forest creating the most peaceful of surroundings. Its rolling lawns offer beautiful vistas of a natural and unchanged colonial estate. Whether it be a wedding, board meeting, school outing, or other gathering, a visit to Battersea is always unforgettable. To discuss your needs contact Tempy Barbru at 804.732.9882 or 757.207.3774 (mobile), or by email at tempy@batterseafound.org.

Special Outreach Initiatives

Handicapped access
Until complete, there will be occasions when Battersea's restoration and grounds restrict access. You can help us provide an enriching experience for those with less mobility by contributing to the purchase of DVDs for handicapped visitors to view work on the second floor.

Archaeology
Battersea needs permanent display cases to house our extensive artifacts on display during events and tours. Currently, we are using display cases on loan through the generosity of the Prince George County Regional Heritage Center.

Architecture
The richness of Battersea's architecture provides many opportunities for learning. Help us by sponsoring an intern from one of the area's high schools or universities to study comprehensive curriculum with some of Battersea's advisors and experts.

Summer Camps
History provides many lessons for today's children. Battersea will do the same with its outbuildings and its rich archaeological and historical significance, becoming a venue with "natural" classrooms for student enrichment and education. Programs are being developed to highlight periods of Battersea's history. Summer camps for elementary and middle school-aged children will provide hands-on experiences. Support the curriculum for a learning experience for a child or help underwrite the opportunity for a young aspiring archaeologist to attend a summer camp.
